Our story

Cleaners who got tired of working for an app.

Maple Street started when a few cleaners who knew each other from Omaha's cleaning platforms decided to run their own company. Today there are 20 of us. Most are worker-owners, and every decision about pay, hours and who joins is a vote.

  • Twenty people, most of them worker-owners

  • Employees on payroll, not contractors

  • Customers and cleaners both get an answer in English or Spanish

How we decide

One share, one vote.

These are the things owners vote on, and the ones we never leave to a boss.

  • Pay and hours

The pay range and the weekday schedule are set by a vote, once a year.

  • Who joins

New cleaners are hired by the crews they will work with, and owners vote to admit them after a trial period.

  • Which jobs we take

A crew can turn down a job that puts them at risk, and the owners back that decision.
